Its been a while since my last post. I have been fishing, duck and deer hunting. Made a trip to fly fish in Florida for snook and tarpon, which turned into a snook catching, tarpon watching trip with professional fly casting help.
Fishing report is as follows. The trout bite has been nothing short of epic on most days but not everyday. The top water baits are working well in the early morning on flats, bays and other shallow water where they feed. Once they retreat i then fish deeper waters off ledges and off points. You will see from the pics that it has been productive.
The trout are eating nearly everything we throw at them but you still have to find the pattern of the day and hour.
There are still slot drum in the area. This too has been very good this year. While fishing for trout you can get bit by one or more of these big hard fighting great tasting fish. These nice drum are feeding in some of the same places as the trout.
I have found a few stripers but not in any great numbers and certainly not very frequently. I seem to find them when I am not looking for them. This is me just being honest. December should bring on a better bite for stripers and then right up through May as they move in, through and out again for their spawn.
I am fishing in the Tar/Pamlico Rivers right now. This helps me keep track of the ducks as they come in for their migration. Kind of killing two birds with one stone.
